July 2011: The Townsville to Cairns Bike Ride is an initiative that helps raise much needed funds to help fight childhood cancer. More than 250 cyclists ride the 350 kilometres track over three days from Townsville to Cairns. Some may have never ridden with a group before, while others have completed the ride over successive years. Entrants include cyclists on mountain, road and tandem bikes with the possibility of even a unicycle this year.
The event has been running since 1999 and has helped raise over $2.6million so far for Children's Cancer Institute Australia . The response this year has been overwhelming and the ride is now fully subscribed. The ride commences on the 28th of July and concludes on the 30th.
AirRoad has been supporting this event in the past and is proud to be involved again. We will be sponsoring our friend, Brian Byrne as he rides from Townsville to Cairns. Brian has ridden for AirRoad for three years now and we are happy to have him on board once again.
We wish all the riders the very best for the race and hope that we can make a positive difference to the lives of children living with cancer.
