Update 3: 02 February 2024

Perth to Darwin – New departures rerouted via Port Augusta

Brisbane to Darwin – Extended delays due to flooding

Sydney to Darwin – Routing via Port Augusta

Ex Tropical Cyclone Kirrili forecast to track south between Camooweal and Mount Isa this weekend

Dear Valued Client,

1. Perth to Darwin – Last week’s services are currently holding in Kununurra and will be for the near term as local councils carry out repairs. Flood water is still present between Timber Creek and WA border. Services departing Perth this week will travel via Port Augusta (South Australia). We are expecting this situation to continue for the balance of next week

2. Brisbane to Darwin – Services are currently delayed due to the Landsborough highway being closed between Cloncurry and Winton. Current information is that this road may reopen with delays in the next few days. All consignments on this lane are delayed until the road reopens.

3. Sydney to Darwin – Services are being routed via Port Augusta (South Australia) until further notice between Sydney and Darwin.

4. Melbourne/Adelaide to Darwin – Services are running to schedule.

5. Ex Tropical Cyclone Kirrili is expected to move south from the Gulf of Carpentaria with significant rainfall to occur between Camooweal and Mount Isa. Should this develop across the weekend – we expect further road closures in this region.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates when conditions change.

We appreciate your understanding during this time. The health and safety of our staff is our top priority and we will ensure freight is delivered as soon as possible.

Regards,
The AirRoad Team.

Update 2: 30 January 2024

Dear Valued Client,

Perth to Darwin – Victoria Highway remains flooded.
Brisbane and Sydney to Darwin – delays due to flooding
Adelaide/Melbourne to Darwin – Stuart Highway open

  1. Services to and from Darwin ex Perth are currently delayed due to flooding between the NT/WA border and Katherine. The Victoria Highway is currently closed to all vehicles. Trucks are currently holding in Kununurra and will be for the near term as the region received more rain over the long weekend. Due to the prolonged flooding situation – trucks will be required to travel via Port Augusta (South Australia).

  2. Services from Brisbane and Sydney are currently delayed due to the Landsborough Highway being closed between Cloncurry and Winton. We are hopeful that these closures will be short term with scheduled services being dispatched in anticipation that the roads re-open within days.

  3. Freight traveling from Melbourne and Adelaide to Darwin have returned to normal transit schedules with the Stuart Highway open with caution in some locations.

Pickups in all locations are not currently impacted. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates when conditions change.
As always, we appreciate your patience and support.
