14/01/20: Delays due to Bushfires
14 January 2020: Disruptions still experienced in Gippsland region (VIC) and NSW South Coast. Services return to normal in WA.
Perth
With the opening of major highways, our linehaul services have started once again. There might still be a few delays as we wait for all our trailers to return for their set runs. Deliveries have also resumed in the Baldivis/Kwinana areas.
NSW South Coast
Deliveries are still being impacted in the South Coast of NSW. Deliveries out of our Port Kembla hub into Kangaroo Valley, Fitzroy Falls, Bundanoon and Wingello have been cancelled due to road closures. From Nowra, deliveries to Bendalong, Manyana, Cunjurong and Lake Conjola are cancelled. Deliveries to some areas around Moruya have also been impacted due to road closures. Deliveries to the south of Boydtown from Bega are also cancelled due to fire conditions.
Gippsland Region, VIC Mallacoota continues to out of reach along with anything past Buchan and Orbost from our Traralgon hub.
January 10 2020: Linehaul services are slowly resuming in WA.
Perth
The Eyre and Coolgardie-Esperance Highways have both reopened. Some speed restrictions are in place along with a large number of vehicles on the roads. Delays are expected. However, we are beginning to send interstate trucks out of our Perth depot from today.
A bushfire in the Baldivis/Kwinana area has caused some road closures and is affecting deliveries in postcodes 6167-6172.
NSW
Deliveries south of Bega towards Eden have been affected due to road closures. Deliveries to Kangaroo Valley, Bundanoon, Exeter and the south of Nowra are still impacted by fires and road closures. We are servicing areas around Moruya and will strive to get most consignments out by Monday.
Gippsland region, VIC
We are unable to service areas past Buchan and Orbost from our base in Traralgon (Gippsland) due to road closures. Deliveries to Mallacoota have also been cancelled. Please note that with predicted high temperatures today, the situation may also change without notice.
January 8 2020: Services are beginning to improve, but we are still facing delays and disruption in affected areas.
Perth
Road closures continue to impact our services into and out of WA, and we are experiencing delays. We are making alternative arrangements to keep freight moving during this time.
NSW
The South Coast is dealing with multiple road closures and power loss, as emergency services continue to operate in the area. Bushfires have affected deliveries south of Bega towards Eden. Some of our on-forwarder’s staff have managed to reach the depot at Moruya, and will endeavour to get most deliveries completed by Friday. Deliveries south of Nowra are not possible due to road closures. In the Southern Highlands, deliveries to Kangaroo Valley and Bundanoon have been impacted due to bushfires.
Gippsland region, VIC
We are able to acess Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance and Omeo for deliveries. Our vehicles have also been delivering into Orobost and Buchan but not beyond. Mallacoota is still unsafe for our drivers to access.
January 6 2020: Services in Perth, VIC and NSW South Coast continue be impacted due to the bushfires.
Perth
Our services to and out of Perth have been impacted with the closure of major routes by Main Roads WA. We are currently making alternative arrangements to move existing freight.
NSW South Coast
Deliveries are delayed with no services running south of Nowra.
Gippsland region, VIC
Deliveries will be attempted into Lakes Entrace, Eagle Point, Paynseville, Newland Arms, Raymond Island and Metung – these areas have been added to our watch list. Please note that deliveries will not be attempted past Orbost due to safety concerns.
January 2 2020: AirRoad’s operations in Perth, regional VIC and the South Coast of NSW have been impacted due to catastrophic bushfires.
Perth
Our vehicles heading to and out of Perth have been impacted by the closure of major roads in Coolgardie, Esperance and Balladonia. These include our Tuesday interstate service from Perth, along with our Sydney and Melbourne services into Perth. This in turn has also impacted our usual return operations.

NSW South Coast
AirRoad’s operations in NSW South Coast have been affected by strong bushfires. Our agent’s depot at Moruya has been evacuated and is now closed. The Bega depot is also closed due to highway closures, south of Moruya.
In the Highland areas, road closures have been affecting deliveries in Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale. For further updates, please visit the RFS website.
